Reflector (Dead Ringers)
This is from a series of works made by taking still images from various films and re-ordering the image by cutting a strip from the right edge of the image and placing it to the left edge, this is then repeated, the next strip from the right is cut and placed next to the first strip, just to the left. This creates a kind of ‘reverse still’ from the film, a kind of reflection that seems to be flicking back and forth, it’s an image that confuses our sense of time and continuity. This still is from David Cronenberg’s 1989 film ‘Dead Ringers’, the moment of an embrace between the main protagonists.
